he sniffed sweetness from across the miles
soon gravitated toward the source
needed it to make the pain
more bearable

she spotted him from afar
bathed in something that looked
like bitterness
(though she was not too sure)

I love your sweetness,
she heard him shout
and I want to make it mine
to keep me alive

saying nothing, she took a few steps back
before she disappeared
behind the clouds of his anguish
