newfound hues

he was what they had
warned her about. chaotic colors
on his palette, too many shades
that would rub off on her and get her all

black and white were all she knew, and maybe
just a few of their hues. diligently coloring
within the lines, she would look for
peace and balance outside
of herself.

then his colors bled through
his passionate soul, finding their way
to her plain pages. as she took
big gulps of his rainbow, she promised
to get to the depths of her newfound hues
and never to return.
