northern and southern

a child of autumn, born among hues of red
around her leaves were falling, carried away by the wind
the northern hemisphere was ready for slumber,
a respite from summer smiles and shenanigans

but she was also

a child of spring, surrounded by creatures waking
from the lull in the cold, now keen to welcome warmth
as the southern hemisphere was breathing in
the sweet breath of spring
