a search for lights

in search of welcoming shore
they spotted flickering light from afar
too dark to see where they were
though their internal compass claimed
they were getting close
to something

tired of waiting for dawn
they went to sleep dreaming of southern lights
hoping kindness would be standing by
on a foreign land
