let her play outside

what’s with
the monstrous padlock
do you think it’ll keep her in?

when was the last time
you let her play outside?
she’s turning blue
and shrinking
faster than you can say love

I know you’d hate
to see your heart fall
and get hurt, but

the pain tells her
she’s alive

let her dance in the rain
be filled with passion, swollen,
stumble and fall
then watch her get back on her feet

she’s much stronger
than you think
