a sucker for love

lonesome lines looked for an end
that would let them rest

they remembered a corner
where love was scattered
as though for free

the sign was still there
wanting someone to worship
every verse birthed
out of the darkness

there they waited for a heart
fallen once, fooled twice
unable to resist the lilt in the voice
the second they started to sing
and strum their strings
and the story began all over again
