the fine print

Nothing about this is simple
nor painless.

If you read the fine print
you’d know that for every heartbeat
they will take away two
and your soul, too.

Each passing second
will make you feel like
you’re running out of air,
and no matter what
you’ll always be wanting more
until you’re left
spent and numb
with barely anything else
to give.

  1. Enjoyed this, Annie, a trifle dark. 🙂 I suggest reading the fine print, and a little comparative shopping wouldn’t hurt. After all, even the devil’s standard retail offer only demands your soul as payment. 😈

    1. Thank you, Steve. ☺️ Nobody really reads the fine print in reality, though I agree with you that we probably should. Speaking of the devil, it is in the details. 😈
