just what I need

I turn to find you
whisper
want
and receive
desire
many times over

you have no idea

how deep is desire
to swallow all of you
at daybreak and moments
before and after

how much is the ache
to be the only one
to cure all your aches

even the heavens
have no clue

stripped and stranded

desire landed on my lap
when I was not looking
shouted love to my face–
I relented and nodded yes

settling in my core it grew
stronger with time
ate me up from within
I crawled, wanting

so I spilled, and cried,
and died
just when I needed this
the most
it barked commands
to back off

desire demanded that I
unclothe
only to leave me
with my bare soul

nocturnal desire

Some nights the dream feels so close I could taste it on my tongue, while others make it look like the skies are nothing but shades of black.

In the darkness I’m feeling my way around your galaxy, each time stumbling upon your love scattered and hidden within foreign constellations.

When I grow up I want to be just like the moon— making love to the night when it is the most tender.

the scent of us

Satisfaction on your face
for having found the oasis
searched high and low

knowing I
single-handedly gifted
that smile

knowing you’re
mine.
