q & a

how long until emptiness goes away
asks weary heart in a corner

room darkens and responds
void is here to stay
it’s where echoes

when mind goes on the offensive

I’ll go out on a limb and say
this is a whole lot of crap

book that says to each
their own blessings

gratitude bordering
is where status quo lives

look down and not up
they say

but really
who wants
to stay

and those who do,

for goodness’ sake–

what is there to do

when a place no longer has space
for evolving need

when room’s corners
no longer offer solace
and silence brings more
internal heated arguments

when the only questions
are whys and what-ifs

back to square one

I thought I’d passed a milestone
where question marks would become

instead I discover
some questions will stay

as I get to a square
I will wonder what lives
next door,
and if I will ever get
to have a taste

missing out

this does not make any sense,
she murmured to herself
it was not how they taught me
long ago

maybe I’m in the wrong place
maybe I’m not cut out for this

so she continues to search
for honest answers
while losing out
as the others bulldoze one another
to lay claim to every cent
