falling (for a) star

I see you cross my skies
gallivanting with stardust
and oh how I wish
for nothing else but for you
to land on my lap
so I could keep you
in a jar

out of reach

If the stars you plucked
were for me,
why are you keeping them
away and so far
out of my reach?

The universe knows of this love, but only the moon has seen your name carved on the walls of my heart.

The stars at night serve as nothing but lanterns to help the clouds slowly read the fine print sprayed across the skies, a vow to make our galaxies collide.

One line screams that you were born to be mine, and so my soul will find yours, no matter where you are.

minutes to impact

before I cross the galaxies
to be with you
tell me your stars
sparkle for nobody
but me

reading stars

how do you know
when you’re getting closer
to your dream

those goosebumps
are more than just
skin deep

they are a sign
something bigger
is descending—

something more magical
than the billions of stars
in the universe

written in the stars

the stars you hang
on my door

the last I see
before I drift to slumber
the first to greet me
as I cruise back to reality

you’re written in each one
just like your heart’s
engraved in mine

something fierce

Tonight I told the moon I missed you something fierce. Hiding behind the clouds, it acted like it did not give a damn about stories of us.

Rain came in the wake of a gray day, and I was left with just dreams of you, mute and monochromatic, its pregnant drops keeping you away from me.

So I turned to the stars and told them the same thing. They nodded and said they understood how it felt to miss someone ‘like crazy’, but they did not. They really did not.

Nothing could even begin to describe the state of a heart swollen with something as fierce as this.

the one the moon forgets

I paddle hard
to stay afloat
the sky is a showboat
bragging how it is bluer
than the ocean floor

I avoid the stars
they know how badly
I want to pull them down
in case the moon forgets
I exist
